The countdown to the holidays is on! With countless parties and long to do lists, everyone is incredibly busy and short on time. But remember, holiday parties are meant to be fun, not stressful. That’s why one of our favourite holiday traditions is the potluck. Potlucks take a huge weight off the host, reduce expenses, and allow everyone to be involved. Without the long hours of preparation, frantic running around and juggling a long list of recipes, everyone can actually catch-up with each other in a relaxed atmosphere, sample delicious food and even partake in a second bottle of wine.

Potlucks are perfect for your office holiday party or a festive and relaxed gathering amongst friends. The buffet style fare encourages everyone to sample a bounty of delicious dishes. Plus – bonus – you get to host a big group for a fraction of the cost of elaborate dinner parties. It doesn’t get much better than that.

The best potluck dishes are easy to transport, easy to reheat (or need no reheating at all), easy to scoop and eat, and of course, crowd-pleasing. So this year, step away from the famously overdone cheese balls, the mini sausages and the bottle of wine you bring every year (wine isn’t actually a food). No matter the setting, Maille has you covered with a selection of favourites including Sausage rolls and Peach turkey meatballs but these four new potluck friendly recipes that are both pleasing to the eye and to the palate. Make one of these and everyone at the party will be licking your dish clean.

If you’re not in the mood to cook at all, hop on the latest food trend and throw a cheese platter or charcuterie board together. These are equally as tasty, low maintenance and sure to make you the star of the spread.

Plan for one to two ounces of cheese and three slices of meat per person. Don’t be afraid to experiment! Try to include:

Don’t forget to share your Maille recipes using #MailleChef as this is the last month to participate in our Maille Canada Cook and Post to Win contest. Sit back, relax and enjoy yourself. The holidays are meant for relaxing, spending time with loved ones and creating lasting memories, not for stressing.

Happy feasting everyone!
